I’ve had the domain name for this site for about 4 years now. I wasn’t sure what i was going to do with it. I starting teaching myself to sew, because i thought that i might design fabric with a friend of mine and then make clothes out of it. Then i fell pregnant with my youngest and everything in my mind went mushy, they call that pregnancy brain. Looking after 2 young children is a full time job, there was never time to really think about what i wanted to do with Caprice de la nature. Now i know that i want to teach yoga to children, adults and pregnant women. So i will use Caprice de la nature not only as the site where i blog, but also the site where i will list and introduce my classes for adults and pregnant ladies.
The most incredible thing happened the other day, I did a google search on caprice de la nature and i discovered that there is a book with the same name and it was written by Nadine Gordimer. Nadine Gordimer not only a South African like me, she was also born in Springs just like me!!! I am taking this as another sign that i’m going in the right direction. Un caprice de la nature is actually the French translation of her book « A sport of nature« , which was written in English. I have not read the book yet, but have just ordered a second hand copy off amazon. I am excited to read it. She was a very talented writer, political activist and received the 1991 Nobel Prize in Literature. She passed away in Johannesburg on the 13th of July 2014 (the day before my youngest daughter was born) at the age of 90.
I’ve was always a bit embarrassed to say that i came from Springs, because it is such an odd town and quite far away from Johannesburg. I’ve come to be so proud of where i come from, especially because there are so many wonderful and talented people that come from there, some of then i’m so proud to say are my friends.
